Antigone

Play by Sophocles
Translated by Anne Carson

Find your sister in the dark.
No softening now only silence now only loud silence you say silence but you hear the scrapes

Antigone finds her sister. She knew to look, knew her sister hadn't heard, knew her plan
Kreon knew the war, knew his place, knew his stance
Haimon knows his city, knows his father, knows his choice
Eurydice is left to find out
Tieresis knows
The chorus feels, the chorus pleads, the chorus screams behind gritted teeth

In the beginning the family is isolated in both their thoughts and actions. When Antigone is sentenced, the family is rejected. At the end, the family is screaming.
The story takes place in a house, a large room like a living room. Confusing ideas of parallels and levels of who is right or wrong. You can appear lower but actually be higher and vice versa. Bright light in stones and pristine clean prison cells. This is an old home but it must appear new.
